RLS FF Poster 2008Richard Lawson Studios Short Film Festival

2008 | 2009 | 2010 | Submission Form

The Richard Lawson Short Film Festival is a festival for actors/filmmakers. All filmmakers must be credited as a CAST MEMBER as well as a FILMMAKER on the project. (Either a writer, producer, director, editor, wardrobe, etc.)

The RLS Short Film Festival was inspired by award winning actor (2 Drama Critic Awards, 2 NAACP Awards, How Stella Got Her Groove Back, Dynasty etc), master teacher (The Beverly Hills Playhouse, The Richard Lawson Studios), and director Richard Lawson.

As well as being a successful actor, Richard is a master teacher at one of the pre-eminent acting schools in the country, The Beverly Hills Playhouse (where he has taught for nearly 30 years) and acting and filmmaking teacher at The Richard Lawson Studio, which he founded in 2005. He has had a hand in teaching some of the world’s greatest actors, George Clooney, Michelle Pfeiffer, Patrick Swayze, Giovanni Ribisi, Doris Roberts, Jenna Elfman, Catherine Bell and many others.

Richard formulated a revolutionary acting technique. He is teaching actor’s how to have a successful acting career by simply placing a camera in their hand, putting them in the drivers seat of their career and teaching them how to become filmmakers in order to create the evidence of their talent and book the jobs they wanted. This formula has changed people’s lives and has created a great body of work. Richard’s curriculum of study includes acting technique, on camera work, defining one’s career, visualization, and “hand’s on” production, including lighting, editing, wardrobe, sound, etc. Many of the actors Richard has taught have gone on to win International Film Festivals, create and sell Feature Films as Directors, Producers, Writers, and Star in Major Motion Pictures, Independent Film and TV.

This exciting combination of acting study and filmmaking has lead to the foundation of The 1st RLS Short Film Festival, a place for actor’s to screen, network and place their short films in a winning environment.

The Festival Producers and Co-coordinators are DawnMarie Ferrara and Tommy Villafranca.
